How do I make my first record?

Tap Record dimensions on the home screen and take a photo or choose one from Photos. Tap Add dimension, then drag a line on the image or use the Horizontal or Vertical shortcut. Enter the measurement from your ruler or tape measure and choose its unit. Tap Details to enter the record name, room and notes, then save. Each record needs at least one dimension.

If your library is empty, Try two example records adds two editable examples. MeasureNest does not calculate real-world sizes from a photo.

How do I adjust a line?

Tap a line to select it, drag either endpoint and edit its value or name. Pinch the photo to zoom. The sliders button provides another way to adjust each endpoint. Use Undo and Redo to try changes. Leaving an edited record prompts you before discarding unsaved work.

How do I get a closer look at a saved photo?

Open a record and tap its photo for a larger view. Pinch to zoom, then drag to move around. Double-tap to zoom in; double-tap again or use the Fit photo to screen button at the top left to see the whole photo. Viewing it does not change your saved measurements or annotations. Tap Done to return to the record.

How do I crop a photo?

On the annotation screen, tap Crop. Pinch or use the zoom slider to enlarge the photo, then move it to choose what stays inside the frame. Choose Original, Square, 4:3 or 3:4 for the crop ratio. Tap Apply to return to the annotation screen, then tap Save to keep the crop.

If a dimension line extends outside the crop, the app asks before removing it. You can adjust the crop instead; the values of retained dimensions stay unchanged. Before saving, use Undo to restore the previous photo and lines. Cropping changes the copy in this record, not the original photo in your Photos library.

How do I find a record?

Search the title, room or notes on the home screen, and use the room filters below the search box. Room names are entered in the editor’s Details panel. Existing rooms appear below the room field: tap a tag to use it, or type a new room name. If a search finds nothing, choose Clear filters.

How do units work?

The default unit in Settings applies to new lines; existing dimensions keep their saved units. In the editor, the unit belongs to the number you enter. For a temporary conversion, use Units on the record detail screen. That display conversion does not change the saved numbers or units used in exports.

How do I change the app language?

MeasureNest supports English and Simplified Chinese. The Language row in the app’s Settings shows the current language. Tap it to open this app’s page in system Settings, then choose your preferred app language.

Can I share an image or PDF?

Open a record, tap Share dimension card, and choose Share as image or Share as PDF. Both include the photo, saved dimensions and notes. Use the system share sheet to save or send the result. If the record is too long for one image, choose PDF to keep all its content. To include several records, filter the home screen as needed, open the three-dot menu and choose Export these records as PDF. Each batch supports up to 20 records; narrow the room or search filter if the current list is larger.

Check the photo and notes before sharing. Choosing Save Image may request add-only Photos permission.

How do I move to another iPhone?

In Settings, tap Create complete backup and choose Save to Files in the share sheet. On the other iPhone, install MeasureNest and choose Import a backup in Settings to select that .measurenest file. Confirm Merge backup. Existing records stay in place, identical copies are skipped, and different versions are kept separately.

A complete backup includes Recently Deleted and is not password-protected. Keep the original file until you have checked the imported photos and dimensions. Creating the share sheet alone does not save your backup: finish Save to Files or another chosen destination.

What if a backup fails or is too large?

Complete backups have a 200 MB limit. If creation fails, no new complete backup has been saved. Keep your original records and any earlier backups. Check the error and available device storage, then retry. If the library exceeds the limit, export important records as PDFs for reference and contact support before removing originals; PDFs cannot be imported as editable backups. While a backup or import is in progress, you can choose Cancel and wait for the app to finish stopping safely.

I deleted a record. Can I get it back?

Open Settings → Recently Deleted and tap Restore. Records are not automatically removed from this list. The trash button there permanently deletes a record after confirmation. Permanently deleted records cannot be restored without an earlier backup. Deleting a record does not delete exports or other copies outside the app.

The app says my files are protected.

The app has detected a library it cannot safely read or update. Keep the app installed and retain your existing backups. Try Retry loading; if the message remains, contact support with the error and app version. Do not delete the app to troubleshoot, because that can remove the only local copy. We do not have a server copy of your library.

The camera is unavailable.

Camera capture requires a physical iPhone and camera permission. If access was denied, use Open Settings in the app’s message or find MeasureNest in iPhone Settings and enable Camera. You can use the photo picker instead.
