Computer Check: from symptoms to next steps
- Heat or fan noise? Start with resource use：Review system CPU, memory pressure and persistently busy tasks to find an app worth checking. Check its progress before deciding whether to quit.
- Finished developing? Check what is still running：A simulator device can keep running after its window closes. Check device status and inspect a Node task’s working directory and listening ports to find the project.
- Compare before closing and after waking：Unplug, mark the time and starting battery level, and leave QuietWatch running. On wake, it rechecks once so you can compare battery readings and sleep records. Failed reads have a retry path.
Adds timestamps, stale-result notices, retries, Node directory/port searches and bounded per-task caching. Simulator shutdowns verify the device before acting and recheck afterward. Unconfirmed results prompt a refresh. Failed sleep-log reads are distinct from no records, and retained reports keep their original timestamp.

Resource trends and app-removal improvements
These features are included in release 1.3.0. Process exits and app removal always require your separate confirmation.
Open Resources for 15- or 60-minute CPU, compression and swap trends, then sort apps and expand tasks. App memory is summed resident usage and may include shared pages; it is not exclusive memory or guaranteed reclaimable space. New resource observations stay in the main window and menu panel, without new system notifications or automatic AI requests.
- See resource use across an app：Group processes belonging to the same app, sort by CPU or memory and expand each task. Sustained app-wide CPU usage appears in the main window and menu panel.
- Memory pressure and recent trends：See system memory pressure, compression and swap, with 15- or 60-minute trends. Sustained growth can prompt an observation, without claiming a memory leak.
- A clearer app-removal flow：Fewer false uninstaller matches, visible check progress and specific guidance. Request a normal exit and recheck, then separately confirm removal. Primary actions stay visible.
- Stale AI advice is cleared when the task state changes; an old alert does not target a new process that reuses the same PID.
App removal moves the entire app bundle and its contents, keeping external data, settings and caches. It does not promise to remove every installation remnant. Saving AI settings enables automatic advice by default, with an option to turn it off; process exits and app removal always require separate confirmation.

On 1.0, quit the old app and replace it with the 1.1 website download once to enable future in-app updates. Automatic downloads are off by default. Update checks do not upload process information or event history.

- A task-first overview with process details, history, settings and a menu bar interface.

- Separate confirmation for requesting an exit and force stopping, followed by a check of the task’s state.
- Up to 500 local events retained for up to 30 days, with search, filters, clearing and export.

Less overhead from monitoring
This version reduces repeated task-source parsing, list sorting and view work while the menu panel is closed, making subsequent samples more efficient. Sampling intervals, CPU calculations and process identity checks before an action retain their existing rules.
Actual resource use depends on process count, changing tasks and window activity. Current short-run functional and performance checks were carried out on an Intel Mac running macOS 15.7.9. They do not establish battery use or long-term memory behavior across devices. Native Apple Silicon operation and the minimum macOS 13 target still need additional testing on those systems.
What this version covers
QuietWatch flags sustained CPU usage in readable processes owned by your current user. High usage does not necessarily mean a task is stuck. Version 1.0 shows resident memory for context; it does not detect memory leaks or temperature, disk, network or GPU anomalies. It never stops tasks automatically.
The universal package targets macOS 13 or later and includes Intel and Apple Silicon binaries. The app interface is currently in Simplified Chinese.
Download and update
The app and DMG are signed by JINGREN CHEN and Apple notarized. Quit the previous version, then drag the new app into Applications to replace it. Updating from a development build may require new Keychain or login-item approval. See the user guide for installation steps.
